The WAND – Accra, Ghana Feel Nothing Before You Feel Nothing
Many people experience some anxiety when visiting the dentist. In fact, some are called “dental phobic,” which means they have such severe anxiety that they avoid dental care altogether. In fact, nearly 25% of all dental appointments are canceled because of this phobia. Are you dental phobic?
When it comes to going to the dentist, our team at Bethel Dental Clinic always thinks of your comfort as our primary concern. This is why we are proud to have integrated The Wand into our practice. CompuDent, which is the brain behind The Wand, is a computerized local anesthesia delivery unit. The Wand is actually the pen-like handpiece that administers the anesthesia. There’s no cold, steel syringe!
HOW IT WORKS
Injections can be irritating for many reasons, but one factor that creates pain is that the anesthesia is concentrated in a small area until it dissipates. Anesthesia administered too fast can also cause pain. Another irritation stems from too much tissue going numb, which can leave a patient drooling after an appointment.
CompuDent manages the flow and volume of anesthesia being delivered, and it also offers more accuracy for the area being numbed. The Wand, through which the regulated anesthesia flows, does not look or feel like a syringe. A dab of topical numbing agent first numbs the injection site, and then the needle creates a comfortable injection pathway.
The Wand helps you relax before, during, and after procedures. Beforehand, you will have confidence instead of anxiety, and you will receive regulated medication to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Afterwards, you can return to normal activity for the rest of the day. No more anxiety about that dreaded needle!
