Meet the Accra Dentists
Dr. Gabriel Ketemepi, Dentist & Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
Accra Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Gabriel Ketemepi Gabriel loves dentistry because “it allows you to combine scientific medical knowledge with art and aesthetics to put smiles on the faces of people”. He had his dentistry training at the University of Ghana School of Medicine and Dentistry and did an externship at the UCLA School of Dentistry in California, USA. He later did a specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has continued his education by completing courses in Laser Dentistry from the Aachen Dental Laser Center in Spain; Certificate course in Digital Smile Design from DSD, South Africa; Dental Implant training with Cezanne Dental Implantology Centre, Berlin; and Occupational Health and Safety Management from ICM-UK; and Basic Life Support and Primary Trauma Care with Africa Partners Medical, Ghana. He is a member of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Ghana Dental Association and the Ghana Medical Association. Gabriel is a tech man. When he is not looking in somebody’s mouth, he is surfing the net looking for the latest technology. He likes to travel and work with youth organizations. He speaks Ewe and English. His wife, Gifty, is a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra. Gabriel and Gifty live in Accra with their lovely son, Dzidula.
Dr. Philip Bayitse, Dentist
Accra dentist, Dr. Bayitse. Everyone calls him Dr. Philip. He is a great dentist with many sides. He is a qualified Biological Scientist from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and he worked at a chocolate factory in Tema before getting into dentistry. He has a degree in Dental Surgery from the School of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Ghana. His areas of interest are endodontics and public oral health education. Since joining the Bethel team, he has had training visits to the following dental clinics in Minnesota USA: Prairie Dental Clinic, Eden Prairie; Twin Cities Modern Dentistry, Eden Prairie; and Dunbar Dental Clinic, Glencoe. He was also in Las Vegas in September 2017 to attend the Dentrix Business of Dentistry Conference. Phillip recently completed two training programs in Dallas,Texas. The first training was with the Planmeca Digital Academy on the use of digital scanner for partial or complete restorative procedures.The second training was in 3D imaging with the Acteon Dental Group. Dr Phillip loves Dancing, Poetry, watching football and basketball. His passion is Food: Growing, Cooking and Eating. Philip also believes he needs to give back to the less privileged in society. With a group of friends, he has formed an NGO called Blessing in Giving (BiG). They make monthly contributions into a fund to help the needy. BiG is currently putting up a primary school building for the inhabitants of the village of Abamkrom in the Central region of Ghana.
For Philip, a dentist is a Doctor, Engineer and Artist (DENTIST). He therefore finds it a joy to relieve, sooth and console a person who has dental concerns. He speaks Ga, Twi Ewe and English. He lives in Accra with his wife, Gwen, who is also a dentist.
Dr. Sylvester Owusu (Sly), Dentist &Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
Accra dentist, Dr. OwusuDr. Owusu says, he “stumbled into dentistry and fell madly in love with it”. He had his dental professional education at the University of Ghana School of Medicine and Dentistry where he graduated with a degree in Dental Surgery. While in dental school, he had his externship at the prestigious King’s College Dental School in the UK. He later specialized as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and thereby qualified as a member the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has also had a 2-year modular course in Implantology organized by the University of Frankfurt, German under the auspices of the Ahmadiya Mission in Ghana. In July 2018, Dr Owusu attended a Dental 3D Printing and Treatment Planning Training in Basel, Switzerland organized by the International Association of Cranio Maxillo Facial Surgeons. He loves to read and is a long-suffering Arsenal fan. Locally, Kumasi Asante Kotoko is his darling football club. What motivates him to get out of bed each day to come to Bethel is the chance to be able to relieve pain and restore a smile. He enjoys the interaction with patients, knowing patients’ expectations and doing everything possible to meet these expectations. He lives in Accra with his wife, Ewurama, (who is a lecturer & researcher at the University of Ghana College of Health Sciences) and their two kids: Daasebre and Awuraba.
